The Research Centre at Thiagarajar School of Management serves as the focal point for planning, coordinating, and promoting research excellence across the institution. Recognized as a Research Centre of Alagappa University, it is dedicated to creating a research ecosystem that encourages innovation, scholarly inquiry, ethical research practices, and global academic engagement.
The Centre facilitates research projects, doctoral programmes, conferences, collaborations, research funding, publications, and academic networking while ensuring compliance with institutional research policies and ethical standards. Working closely with the Departmental Research Advisory Committee, Research Ethics Committee, and International Research Advisory Committee, the Centre supports researchers throughout every stage of the research lifecycle.
With a strong emphasis on responsible research, interdisciplinary collaboration, and international partnerships, the Research Centre aims to generate knowledge that contributes to academia, industry, public policy, and society.
The Research Centre at Thiagarajar School of Management (TSM) serves as the institutional hub for research excellence, innovation, and academic collaboration. We provide an enabling ecosystem that supports faculty members, research scholars, and students throughout the research lifecycle — from idea generation to global dissemination.
Research Administration
We coordinate and oversee all research-related activities within the institution, including doctoral research, faculty research, conferences, institutional collaborations, and research governance. The Research Centre serves as the single point of contact for research administration and acts as a liaison between TSM, Alagappa University, funding agencies, and collaborating institutions.
Research Ethics and Governance
We promote responsible and ethical research practices through the Institutional Research Ethics Committee. The Centre facilitates ethical review, approval, and monitoring of research involving human participants, organizations, and collaborative projects, ensuring compliance with institutional policies and national ethical standards.
Doctoral Research Support
As a recognized Research Centre of Alagappa University, we provide comprehensive support to doctoral scholars and research supervisors. This includes guidance on research proposals, ethics approval, progress monitoring, access to research resources, and compliance with university regulations throughout the Ph.D. journey.
Research Funding and Project Development
We assist faculty members and researchers in identifying funding opportunities from national and international agencies, industries, and government organizations. The Centre provides support for proposal development, budgeting, documentation, ethics approval, and project administration to enhance research competitiveness.
Research Supervisor Development
The Centre facilitates the recognition of eligible faculty members as research supervisors in accordance with Alagappa University regulations. We also provide access to essential research resources, including publication databases, plagiarism detection software, and support for intellectual property and patent-related activities.
Publication Support and Research Quality
We encourage the publication of high-quality research in leading national and international journals. The Centre supports researchers through manuscript development, plagiarism compliance, peer-review guidance, publication ethics, and dissemination strategies to improve research quality and global visibility.
Global Partnerships and International Collaboration
We actively foster strategic partnerships with leading universities, research institutions, industries, and international organizations. Through Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), collaborative research projects, faculty exchanges, and joint publications, we promote interdisciplinary and globally relevant research that addresses contemporary business and societal challenges.
International Exchange and Visiting Scholar Programmes
The Research Centre encourages faculty members, research scholars, and students to participate in international exchange programmes that provide opportunities to collaborate with renowned researchers, access advanced research facilities, and gain exposure to diverse academic environments. We also facilitate interactions with visiting scholars to enrich the institution's research ecosystem.
International Conferences and Academic Networking
We organize and support participation in international conferences, seminars, workshops, and research forums to facilitate knowledge exchange, professional networking, and dissemination of research findings. The Centre also assists researchers with institutional approvals and coordination for international academic engagements.

Working in collaboration with the Departmental Research Advisory Committee and the International Research Advisory Committee, the Research Centre continuously reviews research activities, provides strategic guidance, and strengthens institutional research capabilities through best practices and global academic standards.

The Centre regularly organizes faculty development programmes, research methodology workshops, seminars, invited lectures, and training programmes to strengthen research competencies, enhance publication quality, and cultivate a vibrant research culture across the institution.

Dr. K. Mathiyazhagan is Professor and Chairperson of the Research Centre at Thiagarajar School of Management (TSM), Madurai. He is an internationally recognized researcher whose work spans sustainability, supply chain management, quality management, circular economy, and decision sciences.
As Head of the Research Centre, he provides strategic leadership in strengthening TSM's research ecosystem by promoting high-quality publications, interdisciplinary research, ethical research practices, funded projects, doctoral research, and global academic collaborations. He works closely with faculty members, research scholars, and institutional committees to foster a culture of innovation, integrity, and research excellence.
Dr. Mathiyazhagan serves on the editorial boards of several internationally reputed journals. He is Associate Editor of the International Journal of Logistics Management, Journal of Knowledge Management, Journal of Intellectual Capital, and Environment, Development and Sustainability. He has also served as Guest Editor for several leading journals published by Emerald, Elsevier, and Springer.
His research has attracted significant international recognition, with more than 10,000 citations and publications in leading journals including Journal of Cleaner Production, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Business Strategy and the Environment, Journal of Knowledge Management, and International Journal of Logistics Management. His research interests include Green and Sustainable Supply Chain Management, Circular Economy, Lean Six Sigma, Multi-Criteria Decision Making, Industry 4.0, and sustainable business practices.
Dr. Mathiyazhagan actively collaborates with researchers across the globe and has delivered invited lectures and workshops in the United Kingdom, Italy, Poland, China, and several other countries. He also serves as a Visiting Faculty Member at the University of Rome Tor Vergata, Italy, strengthening international research partnerships and academic exchange.
Dr. K. Mathiyazhagan has established an outstanding international research profile through his scholarly contributions, editorial leadership, and commitment to advancing sustainable management research.
