    Biography

    Dr. Balaji M has 19 years of experience in academics and industry. After completing his Post-Graduation in Manufacturing Engineering with Distinction, he has done his PhD in perishable food supply chain management at IIT Madras. Being a knowledge facilitator, he continuously learns Operations Management, World Class Manufacturing Practices, Decision analysis tools & techniques, Logistics, Materials and Supply chain management and he teaches postgraduate students of management with suitable pedagogical tools. His areas of research interest include Food Supply Chains, Lean Manufacturing, Sustainability and Supply Chain Management.

    He has conducted several Executive Development Programmes for organisations such as Southern Petrochemical Industries Corporation (SPIC), Accenture, Aravind Eye Hospitals, India Post, Tamil Nadu Government Schools, Hitech Arai, TVS Tyres, TVS Rubber, Hindustan Petroleum and Apollo Hospitals. He was also involved in consulting assignments with Hitech Arai and Loyal textiles. He has got Six Sigma Green Belt certification from IIT Madras.

    He is a Fellow member of the Institution of Engineers, India, and other professional organisations, including the Quality Circle Forum of India and the Indian Society of Technical Education.  

    He has published several research papers in his areas of expertise in various Scopus-indexed journals and international conferences.

    Dr. Balaji M is currently the Dean of the MBA Programme at Thiagarajar School of Management, Madurai. He is also the institution’s NIRF nodal officer and a core team member for NAAC/NBA accreditations.
