TSM offers a 2-year MBA Programme that prepares young men and women to take over the managerial reins of organizations by putting the knowledge they gained into practical use. TSM seeks to develop young individuals into technically proficient, managerially competent, ethically sensitive and socially responsible professionals who can eventually become respected CEOs, thought leaders and heads of corporate houses or other organizations.
The MBA Program at TSM is divided into 6 trimesters that are spread over 2 years, with a mandatory summer internship at the end of the first year. TSM seeks to constantly review the design, content and delivery of various courses for their continued relevance and need for keeping pace with the changing business environment and management practices. Project work and case studies are an essential component of the course, as we believe that practical and hands-on learning is the best way forward for management students. There are some projects which certain organizations sponsor; these grant the students the opportunity to interact with actual managers and get a first-hand experience of how corporates run their businesses, how day-today activities are managed, and how problems are tackled in the real world.
The minimum duration for the post-graduate degree course of MBA is 2 years, divided into 6 trimesters, with each academic year comprising 3 trimesters.
The maximum duration allowed for a student to complete all the requirements of the MBA programme and pass all the exams, is 4 years, or 12 trimesters, starting from the trimester in which the candidate was granted admission.
Candidates for admission to the programme leading to the Degree of Master of Business Administration (MBA) during the 2022-24 batch should have passed any Degree examination or any other examination of any recognized University or authority for that is accepted by Madurai Kamaraj University (MKU) as equivalent thereto at the time of application, and subject to amendments as may be made by the MKU from time to time.
TSM MBA programme is a general management programme, with opportunities for functional specialization. TSM has set a quality policy that emphasizes on developing young management graduates who are well-equipped to meet the immediate needs and expectations of the Industry. Additionally, they are also expected to evolve into visionary and empowered individuals with a thirst for continuous learning, and the desire to be proactive, and take informed and timely decisions.
The first year aims at familiarizing students with the fundamentals of management and giving them a strong foundation. An extensive and rigorous set of fundamentals of Marketing, Finance, Operations and Human Resources Management, as well as disciplines like Economics and Organizational Behaviour. Students are introduced to the various aspects of industrial environment, and a robust foundation is built for in-depth learning and specialization for the next year. The courses for the year are scheduled keeping in mind the academic requirements and the difficulties in learning new concepts for the students, and striking a fine balance between the two.
After the students complete their first year, they are required to undertake an internship lasting 6 to 8 weeks in an organization. The work they do in the project can be related to any functional area of their choice, like marketing, finance, HR, and so on. This activity gives students a hands-on learning regarding the working of an organization, its business model, departments, systems, operations and more. They get to work on resolving actual problems by applying the tools and techniques they learnt during their first year in the real world.
At TSM, students get to choose their area of specialization in the Management arena, and can choose from Finance, Marketing, Operations, Analytics and Human Resources Management. The elective courses lay emphasis on the practical application of tools and techniques in different management scenarios. The course also strives to offer in-depth insights and broad perspectives in the respective areas of specializations.
