Professor Selvalakshmi has well over two decades of experience in educating students on Business Communication, Marketing and Strategy. She has rendered yeoman service to the Institute in numerous administrative roles and took charge as the Principal in 2015. Her vision and commitment to the students and the institute has helped take TSM to scale new heights. As a corporate trainer, she has helped executives from numerous top companies in India, to achieve their true potential. Airtel India Ltd., Ramco Cements, TVS Tyres, Honeywell Technology Solutions, SPIC, Hi Tech Arai, Aurolab are some of the companies that have benefited from her expertise. She serves as a Visiting Professor for the Economics Programme Area, School of Business, Universiti Teknologi Brunei, Brunei since 2022.
Prof. Selvalakshmi has several research publications to her credit, on subjects ranging from services management to student skills, inclusive growth, and a whole lot more. Her latest publication was a Case study on an MSME in the Ivey Publishing in November 2023
She has published the cases, ‘Smaart Home Furniture: Adding Value by Adding Services’ and ‘Hope Medicals: A retail pharmacy treading between Brick and Click’ in Ivey Publishing and ‘Thalir Thiran Thittam’ in The Case Centre, USA. She has been the recipient of Desai Sethi School of Entrepreneurship Best Case Study award on Entrepreneurship (Joint Winner) in the 25th Annual Convention of Strategic Management Forum in Dec. 2023. Her case study on Smaart Home Furniture has been ranked as one among the top 10 Mentions in the ISB-Ivey Global Case Competition 2017.
She has attended several international workshops and conferences as a speaker and was invited to present papers as well. She has organized workshops for the teachers and corporate executives in contemporary areas. She has over three years of experience in the industry and has been recognized with the Award of Excellence for the year 1999 by the concern. She also has excellent industry connect and has served as a consultant for Madurai based MSMEs like Smaart Home Furniture, Sri Krishna Nagai Malligai and Arumugam Medicals.
